Custom Media server
VCII
VCII is a media server designed and implemented to manage and deliver dynamic 4k UHD content. Scotia Tower and VCII are two commercial towers located in downtown Vancouver with two large, visible LED screens located in the lobbies of each space. The complex manager is looking for unique, engaging and ambient content to display on the screens during operating hours.
Under the art direction, shots are considered, related to sports and hobbies related to the geographic context, nature scenes, wildlife and outdoor scenes in Vancouver and the West Coast towns.
The system architecture is implemented using Touchdesigner as the main tool to develop a custom software that is synchronized with the time of day and season to play content according to the weather (Day, Night, Sunrise, Sunset && Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall). In addition, from time to time, generative digital scenes interrupt the standard content to visualize and display real-time weather information.
Touchdesigner's flexibility and power as a media server along with Notch's ability to create high quality content in real time, allows for the delivery of engaging content to ensure that screens become a digital art display beyond a simple Giant TV.
